amazing $400+ silk/beaded dress at Century 21 for $140.

the catch…that store treats fashion like its fast food.

quick fix in the garment district, bead shopping. try not to get too distracted, i promise the creative juices will start flowing. ok, get distracted!

of course you need to pop one off the dress to get the best match.  don’t rely on your brain alone. 

matching thread, a needle and some elbow grease.  seriously only took 20 min.

we went to zapopan and found a little store that sells traditional mexican outfits. of course no one wears these unless it’s a special occasion… like… oh i don’t know… my 3rd grade project on any country of your choosing… yes i wore that yellow dress in a kids 8.

i couldn’t go on this little trip without eating my weight in tacos, so after day one where we ate at my favvorriteee taco restaurant [i really do have dreams about that restaurant], i was super excited to get to the reception and find out we were eating morrrreee…

i’m drooling just thinking about them.

all the tortillas were made right there on that little stove, in the back, and there were so many toppings to chose from.

they were spicy & delicious & gone in 20 seconds. ¡¡viva mejico!!

growing up i always thought mama had the greatest style. she was always put together and never left the house without make up or earrings. she’s someone i’ve looked to for inspiration.

while we were in guadalajara, we went to la gran plaza mall, where mama shopped in her twenty somethings,to look for a pair of red shoes (go pack!) for her. we searched for an hour, with no avail, until i saw this little shoe store on the corner and i walked right to the PERFECT shoe! i had to do a little investigating for myself and found two pairs (in size 5!!!) that i had to have. the best part about this was 1. mama used to buy from that store 30 years ago (it was her favorite shoe store) 2. the shoes are designed, handmade & manufactured in guadalajara. the quality is unlike the steve maddens you find today. they have leather soles and great attention to detail.

i’m really excited about my up coming trip! my godson (and his twin) are getting baptized in mexico next week and i’m heading over to not only squeeze/kiss/hold/love on them but also, fulfill my godmother duties- and eat tacos.
