a look into our perfectly disheveled lives

listen: wknc 88.1— the revolution

one of the greatest things about moving down south has been driving around blasting my music and singing off key at the top of my lungs with zero judgement. i’m sure i’ve been laughed at, stared at and probably even mocked! alright. the world doesn’t revolve around me, i get it— but still… there was at least ONE person who noticed!

this brings me to the best station in raleigh… wknc 88.1. it’s the nc state student station whose main audience diggs indy music but they also cater to other loves: local talent, hip hop, a cappella, folk, heavy metal and jazzy blues- think 1920s. i love it. i am constantly shazaming [iknowiknow] songs and checking their playlist to get new artists to become obsessed with / check their tour schedules, follow them on twitter and brag about knowing them before my friends ever have. hehehehe

so i have been craving the smashing pumpkins lately. random. i know this, but i felt they were a little too mainstream to call and request on 88.1… but this morning on my way to school, i heard the most wonderful cover of 1979 by honeyhoney. you know when you hear a song, memorize the words and sing along with your friends and you soon realize that you have NO CLUE what the words were and you were singing some random rendition of this song you’ve heard and sang along to a million times? well that was me this morning. i was like hmmm…. that’s odd… i always always ALWAYS thought the chorus went like… and we don’t even care to think, to shake these avenues and we don’t know just where we’re going… and really it goes…. and i don’t even care to shake these zipper blues and we don’t know just where our bones will rest. waaaaaaaaaaay off mariana…. waaaaaaay off.

anyway. honeyhoney’s cover is beautiful and i think you’ll enjoy. just remember… i told you about them first! ;)
